Dumping Crested Butte

Snowing in Crested Butte

Snowing in Crested Butte

It is dumping in Crested Butte, with more on the way.  We could easily end up with over 2 feet of snow by Sunday, so now is the BEST time to get out here to Crested Butte and get some skiing in.  This weekend on the mountain, it will be near impossible not to find powder stashes everywhere you turn.

If you are thinking you could get used to this kind of lifestyle why not check out the premier ski in/ski out home in the valley, that is 105 Bear Scratch.  Not only is this home located on the slopes, but it also has an indoor swimming pool and an indoor putting green.  Check out more photos and details at 105BearScratch.com.

Kathleen Curry | Commercial Float Bill

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Below is a letter from Kathleen Curry regarding her proposed bill on the commercial float issue across private land.  The letter explains where Kathleen is coming from and why she proposed the House Bill.  Nobody what side you stand on this will be a very important bill concerning Colorado rivers and streams.

Letter to constituents about the float bill

I am writing to tell you about the commercial floating bill from my  perspective, in my own words. The bill passed the House on second reading today (Friday), and is expected to pass on thirds this coming Monday. In last week’s paper, it was reported that the bill could be expanded to include private boaters. There was no such expansion in the House. The bill is still strictly limited to commercial outfitters running historically run reaches of river.

The bill allows commercial outfitters to pass through private property under very limited circumstances. If the bill becomes law, they would be allowed incidental contact with the bed and banks, and that is defined in the bill. They are also allowed to portage in the event of a hazardous blockage of the river. The portage issue has been the most controversial, but as the bill sponsor I decided to address the issue head on, otherwise we will be right back where we are now a year later. Portaging is limited to the beds and banks. Otherwise it is trespassing.

So how did we get to this point? Last summer, Ches Russell and Mark Schumacher asked me to run legislation to address the fact that a landowner on the Taylor River had exercised his right to deny passage through his property. Let me be clear – he has the right under current law to file a civil trespass complaint if a boater floats through his property.

Two Days to Ski Season!!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

We woke up this morning with a couple of inches of snow on the ground and probably a little more up on the mountain. Opening day for the ski resort is this Wednesday. It looks to be beautiful weather for this Thanksgiving Holiday with blue bird skies and temps near 40 degrees. A great time to get out on the slopes and get your ski legs back under you.

Next week is the annual Light Up Night Parade for Crested Butte.  Santa Clause and some of his reindeer will be out there, so bring the kids and come out for wonderful time.  And as always in Crested Butte, you can wear a costume, preferably a Christmas themed costume.

Condo/Townhome Range Data

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

We have compiled some useful data for all of the condos and townhomes sold within the last year, also with some price range data that shows what has sold in each price range compared to what is still active in that price range.

The Condo/Townhome Sold Data Sheet shows which listings have sold per each area, percentage of list price that the property sold for, days on market, price per square feet that the property sold for, and the details of the residence.

The Condo/Townhome Range Data Sheet shows how many condos and townhomes have sold in each area for each price range and also shows how many years of inventory we have for each price range based on the number of solds for the last twelve months.

This data is very useful for both the seller and/or the buyer to determine which condos and townhomes are selling the best, what price ranges have the most buyers in them and where the price of a condo/townhome needs to be to get the most action.

With ski season approaching this is a great tool for you to buy or sell that ski condo.
